Cyclone Resistant ArchitectureThe Virtual Classroom Training Module on Cyclone Resistant Architecture has been developed for trainers to educate the relevant participants about the architectural techniques & methodologies to stand against the wrath caused by cyclonic hazards. The module has been designed in an interesting way to avoid the use of complex scientific/ technical nomenclature. The module is divided into two sessions. First session will explain about the cyclonic activities prevalent in Arabian Sea. Any such activity is a potential threat to coastal regions of Gujarat state. The session also intends to explain hazards associated with cyclones. Knowledge of cyclonic hazards is necessary to plan appropriate architectural mitigation strategies to curb their ill effects. The second session deals with all relevant aspects of cyclone resistant architecture. Role of Youth and Volunteers in DRMThis training module has been developed to inspire the youth, young professionals and volunteers to look beyond their monotonous scope and bring forth disruptions and innovations in the field of disaster risk reduction and risk management. We do not require solutions which are expensive, but we require solutions which are lean, agile and cost-effective. Given the tremendous potential of the youth, young professionals, this module intends to motivate them to work towards resilience in their own unique way. Dignified Management of the DeadThis module provides the trainer or the facilitator with ideas to conduct an introductory awareness training on Dignified/Scientific Management of the Dead, based on existing Protocol(s)/Guidelines in State, Country and International Frameworks. The module is designed to assist trainers to plan, implement and orient the participant through lecture sessions to enhance the understanding of Basics of DRM principles along with the role of concerned stakeholders in different phases of Dead Body Management considering the DM cycle. However, trainers are encouraged to design and implement their training activities based on their unique skills and knowledge of the local context, in which this training material will be delivered. Virtual Class Room Training Module on Heatwave Prevention and Management DesignedScorching and sweltering hot weather has become a significant matter of concern for all, especially with its increased incidence, severity, and temporal span which is no longer a prediction but has already turned into the reality due to anthropogenic climate change and global warming all around the world. India has also observed a steep rise in temperatures in the past century and the rate of rising temperatures was higher in the past two decades compared to earlier as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recently. IMD in the same report also reported that 12 out of 15 warmest years in the history of India were between the year 2006 and 2020 and despite being under nationwide lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the previous year 2020 turned out to be the 8th warmest year in the history of India since 1901.
