MoU formalized between GIDM and IMD

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), Government of Gujarat, India, and India Meteorological Department (IMD), Government of India, India on 15th November 2018, valid until November 2023.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between two institutions and develop Academic and Professional Exchanges, Scientific Research, Consultancy/Advisory Services. Overall, it aims at strengthening education and research programmes, specifically in the field of Disaster Early Warning Technical expertise and other relevant activities under the Disaster Risk Reduction framework to effectively enhance community resilience.

Area of co-operation:

  • Joint development and delivering of prioritized training curriculums, review and updating on Disaster Early Warning
  • Enhance outreach and upgrade training provision through IT solutions jointly by undertaking online training
  • Strengthen Disaster Early Warning Training Capacities
  • Support and Promote Disaster Early Warning knowledge, Experience sharing, and Joint Projects

The MoU was signed by Shri P.K. Taneja, Director General, GIDM and Dr. K.J. Ramesh, Director General of Meteorology, IMD.
