MoU formalised between GIDM and NRSC

MoU formalized between GIDM and NRSC.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM), Government of Gujarat, India and National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC/ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India, Hyderabad, India on 8th December 2018, valid until December 2021.

The MoU aims to enhance the cooperation between two institutions and develop Joint training services, strengthen Training capacity, Academic services on relevant matters and sharing of Geospatial Technologies in Disaster Management.

Overall, NRSC would contribute and strengthen capacity building programmes, especially for following areas of cooperation:

  • Joint development of curriculum for the training courses on Geospatial Technologies in Disaster Management
  • Supporting Training programs conducted by GIDM in the form of delivering lectures and conducting hands-on sessions

Broad areas of collaboration:

  • Jointly identify current gaps (i.e. potential areas) in capacity building in specific themes, develop training curriculums, review and updating of the curriculums for effective training delivering to intended specific audiences
  • Jointly conduct Training Need Assessment for covering diverse groups and strategically plan for Joint training services
  • Enrich and expand joint-training services to keep up with the market demands and emerging global trends on Geospatial technologies in Disaster Management
  • Jointly develop online training programs to enhance the outreach

The MoU was signed by Shri P.K. Taneja, Director General, GIDM and Dr. P.V.N. Rao, Deputy Director, Remote Sensing Applications Area, NRSC/ISRO.
