The state of Gujarat, known for its robust industrial sector, encompasses a wide array of industries ranging from petrochemicals and chemicals to manufacturing and construction. With its flourishing industrial landscape, Gujarat has become a significant contributor to the country's economic growth and development. However, along with industrial expansion comes the inherent risks associated with workplace hazards, particularly in confined spaces.
Confined spaces, commonly found in industrial settings, pose unique risks and challenges to workers due to their limited access and ventilation. Numerous workers engage in tasks within confined spaces, such as tanks, vessels, and tunnels. However, these environments pose significant risks to worker safety if proper precautions are not taken.
In response to the evolving needs of the industrial workforce, Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM) has undertaken a significant effort to address critical safety concerns prevalent within the industrial landscape of Gujarat. The specialized training program on ‘Confined Space and Rescue’ aims to address the specific safety concerns associated with working in confined spaces and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to mitigate risks and respond effectively to emergencies.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of confined spaces, including their characteristics, classifications, and associated hazards. Learn to effectively assess risks associated with confined spaces. Understand the process of entering confined spaces and the corresponding emergency procedure.
Acquire knowledge of selecting, using, and maintaining equipment and PPE for confined space work.
Develop hands-on skills for confined space entry, monitoring, rescue, and emergency response.
The program aims to equip workers in industrial settings with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely work in confined spaces, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring their well-being.
