Why Build the Capacity ?

The rapid industrialization in Gujarat, especially in the chemical sector, has brought significant economic growth and employment opportunities. However, it has also heightened the risk of hazardous chemical incidents, compounded by the state's vulnerability to specific natural hazards. Chemical industry accidents can result in devastating effects, including fires, toxic leaks, and spills, endangering lives, harming the environment, and causing severe economic and legal repercussions.

To mitigate these risks, it is crucial to implement rigorous safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and build stakeholder capacity for effective disaster management and emergency response. GIDM in collaboration with PI Foundation Trust is organizing a 'Comprehensive Training on Safety and Risk Management in MAH Installations,' focusing on enhancing the skills and preparedness of stakeholders to address risks associated with Major Accident Hazard (MAH) industries.

Learning Objectives

  • Create awareness among industries about risks associated with chemical hazards and the importance of hazard identification and risk assessment in MAH installations.
  • Provide an understanding of risk assessment principles, emergency response strategies, and industrial safety protocols.
  • Familiarize participants with techniques for identifying and assessing risks in industrial processes.
  • Enhance knowledge of Chemical/Industrial Disaster Risk Management (CIDRM) and emergency preparedness.
